Bullguard is a solid security suite that covers all the needs. It’s not as comprehensive however, it’s an excellent package for those looking to make the most of their antivirus software. It also works well with resources, avoiding heavy system loads and offering numerous options to ease the load when necessary.
The program opens to a modular hub app with a tiled design for its various modules, such as antivirus, firewall and PC tune-up game booster, home network scanner. Users who want to monitor their system for weaknesses will be happy with the “Vulnerabilities” section, which will alert them of things such as missing Windows updates autostart services, open ports. Gamers will appreciate the “Game Booster” feature helpful, since it will recognize when you’re playing, and will automatically optimize your system.
In our tests, we found that bullguard was very efficient in preventing malware infection, and was relatively low in system resources compared to other products, especially when it came to the use of CPU. However, we did notice that the antivirus’s background processes took up quite a bit of RAM, particularly on machines with limited available memory. Additionally, the components of the hub application looked pixelated on a high-resolution display.
Bullguard includes a mobile security feature as part of its Premium Protection subscription, that provides antitheft, parental control and basic backup capabilities for your tablet or smartphone. The app is basic and lacks some essential features, like webcam security or shredders of files. Also, support via phone is only available via live chat and email.
